A message from Allan Peterson
Dear Friends and Supporters, Warmest greetings!
Until the election on November 4th, a major part of my life
will be a campaign to be elected to the North Dakota House
of Representatives. More precisely, I'm a candidate from the
Democratic Non-Partisan League seeking to be elected to one
of the two available House seats in District 22!
This decision wasn't one that was that easy for me to make
as I've been comfortable in working for causes like that of
the North Dakota Human Rights Coalition, ND Association of
the Blind and other causes that make a difference in people's
lives. I remain firmly committed to the work that builds and
unites communities.
What motivated my decision to run? My work on legislative
issues has led me to conclude that, by far, the decisions
that make the biggest difference in peoples lives are made
in the meeting rooms and the offices of the state and federal
government. Unfortunately, the decisions made by government
officials aren't always helpful to people who work and earn
a paycheck or must rely on income from their farming operations.
In addition, in many cases, I've observed that issues of most
concern to people with disabilities haven't been given their
fair hearing.
Because my loss of eyesight could pose a question about my
ability to serve, I'm offering this response to those concerns.
There have been, and are, a number of people who are blind
or have other disabilities who have successfully served as
legislators. In fact, I've been encouraged to make this decision
because others have felt I possess the ability and skills
necessary to serve in this capacity.
If elected, I'd be very honored to represent all of the
constituencies in District 22 and to lend a voice on issues
that affect people throughout the state. I welcome your support
and would, of course, welcome any financial contributions
that are so vital to a campaign! A donation of $20 or $10
would be very helpful! Please know, too, that all contributions,
whatever the amount, will be most genuinely appreciated! Checks
should be made payable to:
Peterson Legislative Campaign
and mailed to:
Keith Zeutschel, Campaign Treasurer
5703 100th Ave. South, Horace, ND 58047
Thank you so very much!
Allan Peterson,
North Dakota District 22 House Candidate
